"From Inspiration to Income: Valuing Your Creative Ideas"

What is the value of your creation? What problem are you trying to solve? Who are you helping?
After going through a reinvention that was, at the time, the biggest breakdown-to-breakthrough of my life, I feel like I'm back there again. But with a major difference: I can see it unfolding this time. So my reaction is different.
Why? Because I'm the cause of it—I always was!
I recently delivered a talk at the DO Lectures in Wales. I really wanted to create something special. In the process, I drove myself hard, gave myself no room for error, and learned so much. The truth is, these are growth moments. How you rise to them will determine what happens next.
If you find a way through, you discover something about yourself. If you don't, you also learn something about yourself.
My growth curve was massive. After 30 years of exploration, I'm still lost in feelings of wonder and curiosity. I enjoy the process, but knowing there's more requires a new strategy and upgrade.
That's why Engaging with a community, such as Adapt the Canvas, provides a supportive environment where you can share your experiences and learn from others who have faced similar challenges.
I've set myself a huge challenge, and to reach it, I have to change and "become" the person who will achieve the goal. This was always going to happen; growth is unpredictable in how it shows up and what you must learn.
The DO Lectures were all about change, growth, and what's next, so I was in good company. What I wasn't prepared for was the level of growth.
There's always a limit you don't want to go past, but it's the doorway to the next level. You never know what it will take to reach it. Most give up too soon, some don't try hard enough, some aim low and hit, and a few push into the unknown and feel the discomfort of change that leads to growth.
Your ideas are powerful. If you're a creator, you get paid for yours—what is that worth?
What is our real intention for doing the work? If you want to change your life, then you yourself are the cause of such disruptions. The challenge is to be okay with the process, as it can be quite hard-going at times.
No one tells you what it's really like because it's hard to describe. If they did report back in detail, would you do it?
