SOUND ON SOUND| PODCAST

Krust - Drum & Bass Pioneer | SOS Podcast
Krust, also known as K or DJ Krust, chats about his early involvement in the Bristol music scene in the late ’80s to early ’90s, the development of the Drum & Bass sound, and setting up the Full Cycle and Dope Dragon labels with Roni Size.

I had an incredible conversation with SOS Magazine, diving into a time when the Bristol music scene was buzzing with raw, untamed creative energy. We talked about the evolution of this vibrant scene and what it felt like to be one of its driving forces, shaping a new sound from the ground up.

I took them deep into the vaults, back to those early days when the community was close-knit and wildly experimental, with everyone constantly pushing boundaries. That spirit of exploration and risk ultimately birthed what we now celebrate as Jungle.

Reflecting on the journey from those underground roots to co-founding Full Cycle and Dope Dragon labels, I was reminded of how we started as a small collective with big dreams, bonded by our passion for pioneering sounds and new technology.

Together, we created platforms that didn’t just release music—they nurtured an entire culture, giving Jungle a unique identity in the UK and beyond. This was a wild, creative ride through an unforgettable era in music culture—one that changed the game.

I hope you’ll feel the energy, too, as you read on
